Restorative dentistry is problem solving. Some patients need one tooth replaced; others need the whole bite rebuilt. Dr. Skuben handles the full range in one Costa Mesa office, so care never gets handed from place to place.

Born in Czechoslovakia during the Iron Curtain era, Dr. Skuben’s family resettled in California when he was ten. He first majored in electrical engineering and worked for Raytheon on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program before starting over in dentistry — and that engineering instinct still shapes how he rebuilds a mouth. Forces have to be distributed, materials chosen for the job, and the result has to hold up under years of chewing.
He graduated from the University at Buffalo Dental School and moved straight into advanced training: a dental mission to Nicaragua placing implants free of charge, shadowing cosmetic dentist Dr. Bill Dorfman, a mentorship under world-renowned prosthodontist Dr. William Hung, and Diplomate status with the International Academy of Dental Implantology. He continues to study at the Glidewell Laboratories club, the largest dental lab in the world, to stay on top of the field. More about Dr. Skuben
